MainBoss Service generates email messages to acknowledge the receipt of requests and for various other purposes. These messages are created by putting together various strings of text. For example, the subject line of a request acknowledgement is created from a string called RequestorNotificationSubjectPrefix, followed by the request's subject line.

MainBoss lets you customize these message strings. For example, you might add your organization's name to the subject line, or add a standardized comment that invites your clients to fill out a user satisfaction form. You can also create customized strings in other languages. For example, if you have a significant number of users who speak French, you can create a set of French strings; these will be used if the recipient's Contact record specifies a "Preferred Language" of French. (For more information, see Editing Contacts.)

To specify a message string, go to Administration | MainBoss Service | Configuration, and click Edit to edit your configuration. Go to the Messages section of the record. This shows a list of the message strings you can edit. Each string has an identifier name that suggests how the string is used; for example, the RequestDeniedPreamble is used to begin a message to a requestor whose request has been denied (i.e. voided by someone with appropriate permissions).

To change an existing string or to supply a translation in some desired language, click on the string, then click View. This opens a window that shows you information about the string:

Key: A read-only field giving the identifier name of the string you wish to edit.

Current Translation: A read-only field giving the current string associated with "Key".

Message Translations: A list of any existing message strings. Each line in the list gives a language and the associated translation in that language.

Apply Filter: Lets you set up a filter to select which records should be shown in the table. For more information, see Table Filters.

New Message Translation: Opens a window to create a new translation for this message string. For more information, see Message String Translations.

Edit: This drop-down button offers several possible actions:

Edit: Opens an editor window to let you edit the selected record.

View: Opens an editor window where you can examine the selected record.

Delete: Deletes the record that's currently selected.

Search: Lets you search through the list of records for a particular record. For more information, see Searching for a Particular Record. The Search button has an accompanying drop-down list containing the following:

Find Next: Uses the same search condition(s) as your most recent search and finds the next record in the table that matches the condition(s). If the search reaches the end of the table without finding a matching record, it goes to the start of the table and continues the search.

Find Previous: Same as Find Next except that it goes backward in the table. If the search reaches the start of the table without finding a matching record, it goes to the end of the table and continues the search.

Refresh: Updates the list to reflect any recent changes.

Close: Closes the window.
