The UW Tools package contains a large number of utility programs and other software written and maintained by Thinkage Ltd.
First time users may find the size of the package daunting, and may have trouble knowing where to start learning about it. The most important aid to understanding the package is the EXPLAIN command (usually abbreviated to EXPL). The simplest form of the command is just
expl
which explains the EXPL command itself. Explanations for many other topics can be obtained with commands of the form
expl TOPIC expl TOPIC SUBTOPIC expl TOPIC SUBTOPIC SUBSUBTOPIC
and so on. For example,
expl explain
describes the EXPLAIN command in full detail. New users should also try
expl explain intro expl explain conventions
for an introduction to EXPLAIN and a discussion of notational conventions that are used in EXPL documentation.
Below we list a number of other commands that will provide useful information about the UW Tools package.
