The SeNder Option

Syntax:

          Option SeNder="name"

Description:

The SeNder option lets you specify a name to appear on the Sender: line of mail messages that you send (in addition to your userid). This is useful when the userid itself is not sufficient to identify the sender (for example, if the userid is used by several people) or to supply more complete information. For example, if your userid is rhood, you might say

          option sender="Robin Hood"

so that messages you send contain your full name as well as your userid. The alternate name must be enclosed in double or single quotes if it contains blanks.

The sender is identified in a separate Sender line in a mail message. Once a sender has been named using this option, the name is used on all messages sent with To, Reply, or Follow_up. However, your Option Sender setting is not consulted when sending messages with the POST command; if you POST a message that has no Sender: line in the message itself, MAIL8 generates a line in the form

          Sender: <userid@site>
