The Register_All Option

Syntax:

          Option +Register_All
          Option -Register_All

Description:

The +Register_All option tells MAIL8 that you want to register every message you send. The command

          Option -Register_All

turns off the option.

In our opinion, +Register_All is seldom needed. If you want to find out if someone has or hasn't read a particular Outbound message, use Summary +Outbound to look for the message. If the message is not in your Outbound drawer, all intended recipients have read it; if the message is still in the drawer, Summary shows who has and hasn't read it.

A registered message is not removed from your Outbound drawer unless you explicitly use Delete. Thus +Register_All means extra work deleting Outbound messages. If you do not delete the Outbound messages, your mailbox file may grow to take up a great deal of file space. The larger your mailbox file, the slower MAIL8 performs every action.

It has been our experience that registration should be reserved for important messages. Many people consider it rude to register everyday messages. Therefore, +Register_All should be used with discretion.

If you have +Register_All active, you can still send an unregistered message by specifying the -Registered option on the command that you use to send the message (e.g. To). -Registered works with every command that sends messages, except POST.
