DC lets you set character deletion characters. When you enter DC and press carriage return, the Datanet will prompt with

You may then enter up to four characters you want to use as character deletion characters in your session. At many sites, the only acceptable value is backspace.

Note that for Datapac users, a character deletion character may be set for your Datapac session as well as for the DN8. The Datapac deletion character is usually the significant one, since Datapac does all its work before input reaches the DN8.
