CONVERT SUBSYSTEM - specialized options.
Options:
- COPY(<number>)
- The COPY option is only applicable to JPUNCH and JPRINT.
It causes <number> copies of the listing or punched
deck to be produced. The maximum number of copies is 13.
- DIREct
- The DIREct option is applicable to JRN, JPRINT, and
JPUNCH. If it is present on the command line, it
overrides any "jout" or "rout"
options specified on any of the dollar control cards.
- DISMiss
- The DISMiss option is applicable to the JRN, JPUNCH and
JPRINT commands. This option overrides any
"talk", "wait", or
"monitor" options specified on dollar control
cards.
- IDENt(<info>)
- The IDENt option is applicable to the JPRINT and JPUNCH
commands. The given <info> is placed on the $IDENT
card; the subsystem will not ask the usual question
"$ ident ?". (Note that a $IDENT card is
produced whether or not this option is specified.)
- Jout
- The Jout option is applicable only to JRN. It causes all
accumulated output to be saved for examination with the
JOUT subsystem.
- MONItor
- The MONItor option is applicable to JRN, JPUNCH, and
JPRINT. It allows the user to monitor his job until
completion. After the job has terminated, JRN calls JOUT
if the "Jout" option is in effect.
- ROUT(xx)
- The ROUT option is applicable to JRN, JPUNCH, and JPRINT.
It causes all the output generated to be routed to the
remote station "xx" (not applicable at UW).
- TALK
- (Privileged) The TALK option allows the user to have
direct access to the batch job spawned by JRN, while the
job is executing. This option is only applicable to JRN.
- URGC(xx)
- The URGC option is only applicable to JRN. It assigns an
initial urgency to the batch job spawned. If no urgency
is specified, the user is given the maximum allowable
(usually 5); if the urgency specified is greater than the
allowed maximum, JRN aborts with the message
"illegal urgency".
- Wait
- The Wait option is applicable to JRN, JPUNCH, and JPRINT.
It causes the user to wait until the batch job is
finished (or the break key is hit). When Wait is in
effect, the user is informed of the job's termination
status when it finishes execution; control is then passed
to JOUT if the Jout option is in effect.
Description:
The "specialized" options for the CONVERT subsystem
are only applicable to the JRN, JPRINT or JPUNCH commands. They
take affect only after all input files are closed and the output
file has been generated.
The "rout", "jout" and "direct"
options are mutually exclusive, as are the "monitor",
"talk" and "wait" options. If more than one
mutually exclusive options are specified (either on a dollar
control card or the command line), the subsystem aborts. If the
user gives them on separate lines, the first option encountered
overrides all subsequent ones.
